“It just shouldn’t be this hard!”
Raise your hand if you’ve ever had a day where everything that could go wrong does go wrong―you lock your keys in the car while it’s running, lose control with your kids, make a mistake at the office that results in hours more work. And just when you think not one more thing could possibly happen . . . well, fill in the blank.
The struggle is real, friends. It may not be major stuff. Lives are not on the line here. But it makes us feel awful . . . and then we feel guilty for stressing when other people have “real” problems that are so much more serious.
Yet the fact remains: We live in a world that often feels harder than we think it should be. And so it can be easy to believe the stories we tell ourselves―that we’re doing it wrong, that we’ll be stuck in this place forever, that God doesn’t love us. We struggle to practice gratitude, to make godly choices, and to live our daily lives with confidence and contentment. So what can we do?
Join popular Bible teacher and counselor Nicole Unice to discover why the struggle is real . . . and what to do about it. Nicole offers practical tools to help you navigate the daily ups and downs, and ways to rewrite your struggle into a new, God-centered life story. The Struggle Is Real is an invitation to take the hard, hurtful, and confusing moments and turn them into opportunities to grow in wisdom, strength, and joy.

God rewrites our story
“I believe that God has written a story line for each one of us that integrates all the random and frustrating and confusing struggles- both little and big- into a life of wholeness and purpose. I believe in the power of God to change our lives and to untangle the confused plot lines in the deeper parts of us.” With those two sentences Nicole opens her latest book, a promise of transformation for everyone who puts their hope in Jesus Christ and is willing to enter honestly into relationship with him. Nicole writes with a raw honesty about her own life and the lives of others she has counseled and draws from those experiences truths that are common to all of us. She describes patterns that keep us stuck in our old stories that feel like they were written from my history (I actually have a perm story too!) then gracefully guides us into finding our new story – with Christ in the center. Each chapter is so thought provoking, I had to stop and ponder and pray. As I read, I could feel something that was stuck in me give way and in tears I could let go a little of those old lies about who I am and how I don’t measure up. The book is honest, it allows us to laugh at ourselves, and it leads us into an understanding of how our loving God sees us. What a gift! Thanks Nicole!

A new idea about your WHOLE story…
I thoroughly enjoyed this book.Using her easy to understand, friends-chatting-over-coffee writing style, Nicole Unice takes a real look at the struggles that we face in day-to-day, real world life. And using sound biblical principles and teaching, she introduces the idea that the new life that you get when you begin to know and understand the depth of God’s love has the power to rewrite even the old scars that mar your story and contribute to your current struggles. You may have heard it said, “You can’t start over and create a new beginning, but you can start from today and create a new ending.” Nicole explores the idea that through a God for whom nothing is impossible, that new beginning can be achieved, those old wounds that have labeled you and held influence can be re-written when you give Jesus the pen and ask him to re-write even that part of your story that has held you captive for far too long. The struggle is real, but so is our God.

Truth Bomb. The Struggle IS Real.
I was fortunate enough to receive an advance copy of this book so I’ve already had an opportunity to read it even though it was just launched. I liked it so much that I have purchased another copy on the way so I can give it to my sister!Nicole wrote a great book here y’all! This book is well-rounded as each chapter offers fresh insight, thought-provoking questions, as well as comments or prayers all designed to help you go deeper. Nothing shallow here. Nicole’s counseling background shines through in this book.We are to acknowledge the truth of who we really are, yes, but the story isn’t over. We have the power to write a new truth-filled story that is filled with hope and freedom.I intend to go through this book and Bible study with my Mom’s group once we all get back into our routines now that school is back in session. Great book.

Need help putting the puzzle pieces of life together?
This book is amazing! Sometimes I struggle with seeing how the puzzle pieces of life fit together and make sense. I wrestle with how I feel and think about the difficult or confusing parts of the puzzle. (And this actual puzzle in the photo had several areas that were not clear and took days of patience to put together … that cloudy San Francisco sky!! )Sometimes I’m just looking at it all wrong. And something that seems like it should be easy is hard or emotional. And I struggle with anxiety. In this book, the author does a great job of helping you fit together all the random, frustrating and confusing struggles into a complete picture of wholeness and purpose. I’m experiencing a new freedom in this season of life (the empty nest) and a renewed trust that God has a perfect completed plan for my life.

New Perspective on the Everyday Tough Spots
The Struggle Is Real is a quick read that makes you feel like you’re taking with the author over coffee. Nicole makes you laugh, points out truth in her own life, and then calls you to look deeper at your own. The Struggle is Real embraces the reality that there are hard days in this life. It gives wisdom on how to endure major sufferings but also lends a new perspective to the everyday hard spots. It challenges the reader to live beyond superficialities into intentional depth to find meaning and God moments. Overall, I thought it was a good read with lots of application to our busy lives!

A great read
I loved the realness of this book, and of all Nicole’s books. Life doesn’t have to have big events to make us feel like our struggle is real. It’s the mundane everyday things that make us sometimes feel like we are “just fine”. Nicole delves into how to overcome the struggle, with a perspective on how to make your everyday life God centered. Her writing style and personality make it an easy, fun, and life changing read for anyone. Highly recommended.
