★ Heal Emotional Pain, Break Generational Cycles, and Reclaim the Peace God Promised ★

If you’ve ever said, “I’ve done everything—prayed, gone to therapy, taken the meds—and I’m still not okay,” this book is for you.

You’re not alone. Across the globe, countless people are suffering silently—overwhelmed by emotional pain, unresolved trauma, and spiritual discouragement. Whether the pain stems from childhood abuse, grief, burnout, or betrayal, too many are told to “pray it away,” “man up,” or “get over it.” But healing doesn’t come through dismissal. It comes through truth, love, and a strategic path forward.

When the Mind Cries is a powerful faith-based resource written by Dr. Tiwalola Osunfisan, a double-board-certified psychiatrist who combines clinical expertise with biblical truth. With deep compassion and clarity, Dr. Tiwa reveals how emotional pain shows up in our lives, how it gets stored in the body and brain, and how it can finally be healed—without guilt, shame, or fear.

This is not another self-help book full of generic advice. It’s a healing blueprint rooted in science and Scripture—a guide to understanding your emotional wounds, renewing your mind, and stepping into lasting peace and purpose.

You’ll learn how to:

Understand what emotional pain really is—and why it won’t go away on its ownRecognize how trauma, grief, and disappointment show up in your thoughts, health, and relationshipsDiscover how the brain processes pain, fear, and forgiveness—and how to rewire it for healingIdentify hidden sources of anxiety, anger, addiction, shame, and burnoutUse faith-based psychological strategies to calm your nervous system and restore peaceBreak toxic emotional and generational cycles—and stop passing the pain forwardReplace bitterness and confusion with clarity, direction, and deep spiritual strengthReconnect with God, others, and yourself in a healthier, more grounded wayExperience freedom—not by bypassing your pain, but by facing it with support and truth

Whether you’re a person of faith who’s silently battling depression… a trauma survivor who feels abandoned by God… or a Christian professional who looks strong on the outside but feels like a mess inside—this book is for you.

You don’t need to choose between faith and therapy. Between medication and prayer. Between survival and healing. You can have both—and you were never meant to walk this journey alone.

Dr. Tiwa walks with you, chapter by chapter, through real stories, scientific insight, biblical reflection, and practical application. You’ll finally have the language to name your pain, the tools to process it, and the faith to overcome it.

Includes FREE access to a downloadable workbook to help you apply each lesson, reflect on your own emotional journey, and take powerful action steps toward healing.

Faith Based, Wholesome Book,a must read
“God is on the move indeed! This book is wholesome, I pray that this book helps people find their way to God or bring people closer to God.”When the Mind Cries” is an eye opener for pain, suffering, grief, forgiveness, prayer, relationship with God and man etc. The writer personifies it in a very relatable way.Chapters 10&11 are two chapters that I keep going back to.Over the years, I struggled with unforgiveness. I would rather shut myself out and somehow FORGET about the person or persons, i kept praying for a better way and opening myself to forgiving, realizing that i can forgive but i don’t have to forget and i will be without grudge. Being able to forgive and let go requires spiritual maturity, it is indeed freeing. I remember one time I reached out to someone who wronged me and the person said “I have been praying for this day”, it felt painful and freeing at the same time. We truly do not know how people feel, everybody’s reality is different.Ask the Holy Spirit to help you make a difference today!”

    Refreshing and practical
I find “ When the mind cries” extremely relatable, easy to digest, easy to understand, gently challenging and comforting. I’ve really enjoyed reading the book. Specifically, I think my favorite chapter so far has been the section on  identity. It feels so relevant to my life right now and really ministered to me. I really like that you talk about acknowledging and accepting your identity while also seeking to become who God says you are. And that you emphasize the difference between identity and experiences. It’s so easy to feel defined by negative experiences but it’s a comfort and strength to know that we are defined by who God says we are!I also really like the ADAPT model and I think it will really help people

The importance and de-stigmatization of mental health.
I personally cannot overemphasize the importance of mental well being and seeking professional help.Unfortunately, that’s something that can’t be imposed upon the individual who needs it.The person in pain has to come to that upon their own recognizance.I think getting to that point , comes with reaching the lowest and saddest place with no where else to go but up!!As Christians we are often adamant in believing that we don’t need therapy only Jesus/God.Not disputing that, but we as Christians, though of not this world, live in this world and need to be adequately equipped to navigate this world. The crux of one’s healing lies at that very cusp of realizing you need God and the acceptance/realization that God uses his creation(humans) to showcase and execute this. This book does a fantastic job of meeting you where you are mentally and carrying you along with the progression of each chapter. It awakens both introspection and retrospection till you are convinced that you need to seek professional help while believing God is going to be by your side and be receptive of both. Not placing the need for therapy above God but as necessary to be able to better understand why you need it.I pray this book helps those battling the mental turmoil or the “ darkness” as I personally call it.It can be overwhelming, but by God’s perfect grace and love in conjunction with therapy we shall not be consumed.Buy a copy for yourself, for family and friends to create awareness and de-stigmatize mental health issues.

This is the new version of Battlefield Of the mind by Joyce Meyer.
“When the mind Cries” is a must read! This is the new version of Battlefield Of the mind by Joyce Meyer. Dr Osunfisan is truly an advocate of healing the mind and I recommend this book to adults and even to teenagers who are in the beginning of their life’s emotional roller coaster. She has used her God given wisdom and professional expertise to build a strong bridge to close the unwavering gap between mental and spiritual divide that we experience in our everyday life.To understand how your body works and to apply the words of the supernatural power of healing is a recipe to winning mental battles and warfare. The definition and the analysis of our everyday emotions in this book should be the basic mantra for self development.Whether you are an ardent reader or a passive reader, this book is clear and concise!Moriam Oshodi-Rissing
