Powerfully Practical!
I have been working through this book this past month! Bought it because the author Christine Carter Hoy goes to our church, and I was actually thinking of those in my life that struggle with perfectionism. What I am realizing is that probable EVERY (100% word) person has elements of perfectionism in their lives. And it has helped me seek Jesus in the midst of my stuff.. It’s practical peace seeking instruction and powerful prayer at the end of each chapter draws my heart to rest in my identity in Christ and claim victory over vulnerable areas where I struggle! Certainly a Soul-care tool! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! ❣️

Just “ok”
I’m a little more than 3/4 of the way through the book and it feels like the message is the same for every chapter: trust God, rely on God. Yes, I know that. But I was hoping for more insight or tips… or something! The first several pages describe in detail what it’s like to be a perfectionist, and I deeply related to them; I was excited. But then the book seems to ramble on with the same superficial message page after page. I find myself skimming the pages looking for the “meat”. It’s not a bad book, I just haven’t found it to be very helpful.

Ways your peace gets stolen that you may not recognize.
What an awesome book. As a woman of faith, I try to maintain peace at all cost. However, this book …Peace Beyond Perfection …hit me in so many ways. Ways that I had not even given thought to as being peace stealers. I highly recommend this if you are wrestling with anything that robs you of peace. The chapter on procrastination really hit me hard, as I have a tendency to wait longer than I should on projects. Bless. Also, as a person who is into loving people it is OK to unplug, enjoy nature, enjoy travel as much as I do, and so so much more. Peace is worth maintaining at all cost. After all, Jesus came to give us life and life abundant and that includes a life of peace. This book also gives you action steps to do to change old peace stealing ways. Grab your copy you will be glad you did. May Simpson
