For those going through pain, sickness and suffering!
As someone on bed rest fighting Lyme the same horrific disease as these women I could not have connected more to this book. This is a book for the hurting! There is so much in the Bible about suffering, pain, lamenting and far too often The Church is silent on those topics.THIS BOOK IS SO NEEDED!!!!I am so grateful to these women for being obedient to the spirit. They shared honestly about both of their struggles, their family struggles and should be so proud of this book.So many people need these reminders and scriptures!!!This book is a 30 day study that mainly focuses on one passage of scripture with journal prompts, other scriptures to read and a prayer everyday. This study can be done alone or with a group.-Every church should have a support group for the chronically ill and this study would be a great book to start or a gift to people in this season.-If you know someone going through the horrors of illness or with a child that’s chronically ill this is the perfect gift.-Or maybe you are the one waking up everyday not knowing how you’ll make it to lunch this is the salve you need. Pointing you to the loving Father who knows your pain, sees your suffering and brings comfort in it.

Are you hurting? Are you looking for hope? Read this book.
Anyone who has ever experienced deep hurt or walked through a season of suffering should read Hope When It Hurts. This book will guide you through Biblical truths related to suffering which will help you see suffering and pain in light of scripture and the Gospel. In the midst of suffering (in different ways), both Kristen and Sarah share their own journeys, vulnerably and honestly. They share their own experiences and struggles that are common to anyone in suffering. They choose to follow through journey by seeking out scripture and trusting in Jesus. Their book points us all to finding truth , encouragement, and hope when we’re hurting. Every page touches on suffering with a deep honesty and every page points to Jesus and His deep and perfect love for us. I wish I had had this book when I walked through my own season of suffering. Seven years later, I can say “Amen” after each page and find encouragement and hope all over again. The book’s organization of story with Biblical reflection followed by questions for reflection, a prayer, and journal pages is such a gift for the reader to fully experience the healing in their message. “The gospel tells you why suffering is. It tells you how suffering ends. Because the light of Jesus Christ shining into our hearts, eternal darkness has been defeated, and our present darkness is being transformed. We need God’s gospel to suffer well. We need it every day, and never more than when life hurts.”

Timeless Biblical Hope for Sufferers
This journey through 2 Corinthians 4 is a primer in the theology of suffering well. It’s part of my core list of books for people going through hard things, and will be gifted again and again. Sarah and Kristen give an empathetic, encouraging and challenging perspective on what God’s word says about our suffering, and the hope that can be had in the midst of it. Whether you’re going through physical or emotional suffering, this book is for you. It’s divided into 30 short, accessible chapters that I slowed chewed through (they’re densely packed with additional encouraging verses!). It’s also set up to journal after each chapter, sort of like a workbook. There’s a focus 2 Cor 4 verse, some reading from Kristen or Sarah, reflection questions (great for group conversation!) and prayer prompts that push the reader to apply, not just read.

This book is excellent and has helped me so much. The only issue is, chapter 12 & 13 are in the book twice, and it’s missing chapter 14 & 15.Idk why this happened, but I would defintly advise readied this book.

Hope for Suffering-Highly Recommend This Book!
I just started this devotional and I love it. A couple years ago, I was a healthy, happy 30-something mama of two girls and wife to a wonderful hubby. Then I began having pain in my feet. It got so bad, I could no longer walk except for very short distances (like to the bathroom). I had to use a mobility scooter. The pain kept me up at night crying. Docs still haven’t diagnosed it. Then this May, I started a medicine that gave me horrible side effects! I ended up with heart palpitations that felt like I was dying! I could no longer trust my body. I couldn’t make plans to go anywhere or do anything. I was so afraid! I was feeling so lost. I wanted to cling to Christ, but I just felt like I couldn’t trust God when he allowed these terrible health problems to happen to me. I kept thinking he could heal me if he wanted to. And I went down a dark road of wondering if God was mad, or if I could earn his favor somehow. This book has helped remind me of the truth that God loves me and isn’t punishing me. That even though I may suffer, He is still good, and His promises are not going to change. Thanks for restoring my hope! My trials may not be over, they may NEVER be over on this earth, but I still have hope in Christ.

Honest help
Good book to use as a devotional when going through tough times. I used it to help counsel someone. We read it together and discussed each week

Beautifully written devotional
This is a beautifully written devotional perfect for anyone looking to make sense of suffering in their lives. As someone who has chronic intractable migraines I have struggled to find meaning in my pain. The writers are no strangers to suffering which makes this book more relatable. I love the hardcover format with a ribbon to save your place as well as the journal pages at the end of each chapter that allow you to process the readings and keep track of how each reading has made you feel. Each chapter is easy to read and understand and can stand alone or be considered in the context of the other chapters. The biblical basis for each reading gives hope that there is meaning in suffering and that God loves us. I highly recommend this book!

Not only is the content lovely, but the cover and printing is really nice. The hard cover has a textured feel that makes it look more like a little journal.

This book was a great blessing to me. So thankful to have had it& will continue to look back at it- cause it’s so relevant in the midst of suffering to how you can feel at times- but how God is unchanging and my hope!

Very encouraging and informative. Not with quick fixes or “just trust”. But truly from the Bible and from the heart. Also I really like the design 🙂

I cannot recommend this book highly enough. As someone who suffers from anxiety and depression this is the first devotional I’ve read which I feel completely understood. It is beautifully written and the scripture throughout resonates so deeply. It is also a gorgeously present book with a journal section at the end of each chapter which really helps me to reflect on what had been written and meditate on scripture.
