Excellent for Beginners new to Christianity!
A beautiful study Bible edition with informative notes that make learning the Bible so much easier than reading a standard Bible. These Thomas Nelson study Bibles are far superior to the Tyndale Life Application study Bibles I’ve read.This version includes fantastic full color photography, tabbed pages for easy reference, informative historical articles, and extensive footnotes. Especially useful for late-blooming Christians who did not have the benefit of childhood Sunday School.I also purchased the Women’s Study Bible which I also dearly love. I learn so much more and it deepens my understanding of the text in a way that just going to church services has not fulfilled.

I own a few study Bibles with different Scripture translations. To me, the NLT is the most readable and easily understandable translation. The NLT Study Bible notes are most excellent. I love the language and style of the NASB as it is the translation I first used after becoming a Christian. I love the NKJV for its beautiful language and because it includes many NT (New Testament) phrases and verses which greatly show how Scripture interprets Scripture, that the the NU (Nestle-Aland United) NT text omits.I bought both the hardcopy and Kindle versions of this Bible. The notes, cross references, in-text maps, articles, word studies, character studies and ginormous concordance are nothing short of amazing. I am enjoying reading this Bible one page at a time – including all cross references, all footnotes and all word studies and special articles. It takes quite a while to read the Bible this way, but the richness of reading familiar or repeated verses in the cross references and footnotes helps to solidify the truth of their teaching into my mind and spirit.The almost full-color aspect of this bible is gorgeous. Why “almost”? Because Nelson decided for some strange, unexplained reason to print the words of Jesus in black instead of the traditional red in this “full-color” Bible. However, that creates an opportunity for me to go through my NT and underline Jesus’ words in red with a Pigma marker and flexible ruler, reinforcing His teachings in my mind and spirit.These last few paragraphs are a bit long and are for the benefit of those who’ve struggled with navigating through this Bible on their Android phone with the Kindle app.I bought the Kindle version so I could easily read this Bible’s rich features on my phone while in bed or on the go. The instructions on how to navigate through the various parts of this Bible in the beginning pages of the Kindle version are very helpful. It’s quite easy to navigate to any chapter and book, as the instructions describe. However, if you’re looking for verse 85 of the 119th Psalm, you’ll have to scroll a few pages past the beginning of the chapter to find it. Other Bible software I have and use on my phone makes it much easier to navigate directly to specific verses.When initially looking up a cross reference or footnote with the Kindle version, verses referenced in them are not hyperlinked. You have two options. You can either look up the verse via other Bible software on your phone (or a hardcopy) or select “See all footnotes” at the bottom of your screen. After doing option two, referenced verses are hyperlinked and are easy to select. The letter of the footnote you select is highlighted and to the left of the verse number from which it was selected. After selecting the hyperlink and reading the cross referenced verse, you can navigate back to the list of all footnotes by touching the lower part of your screen on a non-hyperlinked area, which brings up the Kindle quick navigation within a book. Select the tiny window at the bottom which reads, “Back to nnn”, where “nnn” is the previous page you were viewing, which is the list of footnotes. The highlighted letter next to the verse that began this trek is gone. So, you’ll simply have to remember which verse you were reading. Then, touch the letter to the left of the verse, which will take you directly back to the book, chapter and verse. After you practice this a couple of times, you’ll get the hang of it.The instructions in the Kindle Bible tell you to use the back button on your device to get back to where you were originally reading in your Bible. If I do that on my phone, the Kindle reader exits the Bible book and presents me with the list of books in my Kindle library. Using my Kindle hardware, the back button works as expected. The instructions do include the caveat that you’ll need to look up your specific device’s instructions regarding navigation. Those instructions probably won’t tell you anything about Kindle navigation, in which case you’ll simply have to experiment and find what works for your device.

In-Depth, Beautifully Made, but Bulky
This is one of the most comprehensive study Bibles I’ve used. The full-color photos, maps, and illustrations really bring the historical and cultural context of the Scriptures to life. The NKJV translation is clear and readable, and the book introductions, word studies, and bottom-of-page notes add depth without feeling overwhelming. The Comfort Print type is easy on the eyes, and the hardcover feels durable.My only complaint is that it’s quite heavy and large — not something you’ll want to carry everywhere, especially if you also carry other books or items. But for home study, preparation, or extended reading sessions, it’s excellent.

Beautiful and thicker pages!
Its absolutely beautiful. Exactly what I needed for study. Pages are only minimally translucent as they are thicker. So explanatory and easy to read text size with lots of illustrations, maps, diagrams and helpful tips. The information about the Bible and explanation of various translations is vast and just as interesting. Wonderful!

Great Bible for beginners and believers!
Love the way this Bible explains who folks were, in relation to the story. Locations on maps. Pictures of relevant materials. It also shows the correlation between different scriptures, how they are linked and so forth. Keeps it very interesting and helps the mind to paint a picture of the time. Really nice bible and has held together quite nicely.

My husband loves this Bible. The NKJV is easy to understand. It has LOTS of helpful study aids included. The cover is beautiful and sturdy. It should last for years. Definitely worth the price!!

Great for study
This is great for those looking for a large print study bible. Color illustrations and commentary complement text. I appreciate that commentary is standard scholarly exposition and not celebrity YouTube explanations. It is a bit large just as all study bibles seemed to be. I am very satisfied with purchase.

Wonderful leather bound study Bible – only downside is Jesus’s words not in RED
Great study Bible. The leather gives it a nice, rich feel. The text is laid out in an easy to read manner. My only complaint is that the words of Jesus are not in red. Otherwise, this would be the perfect Bible.

I love this bible. It has beautiful coloured maps & lots of notes & charts. The font size in the main text is comfortable enough to read. The font size of the notes are a little bit smaller but still comfortable to read. This bible is a wealth of information for spiritual growth.

I purchased this hardcover NKJV Study Bible as an Easter gift for my young adult son. I was pleased when it arrived to see how nice it is. This Bible is beautiful, packed with colour illustrations and maps, and filled with helpful information of all kinds. I particularly like the articles on different subjects which are sprinkled throughout the Bible. I am probably going to borrow my son’s Bible just to read these.Note that the hardcover shown in the photo has a dustjacket. The actual cover of the book is plain, with a shiny maroon colour. There is gold lettering on the spine. I think it looks nice with the dustjacket on or off.

I would have given five stars for the book/box, but because of the way it was sent (box was just put in a paper envelope/bag, without any protective material), completely damaged two corners of the box (and misformed corners of the leather a bit).This is so frustrating and I cannot keep the book in the shelf in its cover box now, and returning this heavy book would cost almost as much in shipping as the cost of the book…

This was a great investment in the sales, and contains plenty of extra information about the way to get the roots of various books and characters and teaching from the basic Bible. They are certainly a good example of supporting the Christian Faith and it’s truth that cannot be shaken, broken down, or destroyed by anything else.
