What comes to mind when you think of the biblical laws of the Old Testament? Perhaps a list of rules that don’t apply to our time and place? Or a section of Scripture you just try and power through, something mostly irrelevant since Jesus has come? The truth is these laws are hidden gems of grace that are for your benefit even today.
In this 8-session Bible study for women, author and theologian Katie J. McCoy walks through the book of Deuteronomy, an invitation to abundant life found through faith-filled devotion to the Lord alone. At the core of Deuteronomy is love. God sets His love on us, and as we learn to love Him with all our hearts, souls, and strength, we learn to love our neighbor as ourselves. This kind of love fulfills the entire Law, puts the character of God on display through our lives, and is forever for our good.

Video Sessions:

Session One: Introduction (26:28)―Join Katie McCoy in the first session of Forever for Our Good, an 8-session study through Deuteronomy that reveals the heart of God through His covenant, character, and commands. With this introductory session, Katie gives an overview of Old Testament Law and helpful context to the book of Deuteronomy and its place in the canon of Scripture. Session Two: Remembering God for Our Good (24:19) ―In this teaching on Deuteronomy 1–3, Katie sets the table for understanding Deuteronomy by exploring Israel’s journey through the wilderness and their preparation to enter the promised land. She connects their story to our own spiritual journey, reminding us that just as Israel was called to claim God’s promises through obedience, we too are called to live in the fullness of our identity in Christ, battling sin and embracing holiness. Session Three: Responding to God for Our Good (25:05)―With a look at Deuteronomy 4–5, Katie unpacks Moses’s warning against idolatry, showing how spiritual substitutes―no matter how good they seem―can never satisfy or take God’s rightful place in our hearts. She reminds us that our obedience flows from our covenant relationship with the Lord, and that our blessings are meant to glorify God and draw others to Him. Session Four: Remaining in God for Our Good (25:30)―Katie explores Deuteronomy 6–11, beginning with the foundational command of the Shema―the call to love the Lord with all their heart, soul, and strength. She reminds us that we live for what we love, and when our greatest love is God, it reshapes our identity, our choices, and our everyday lives. Session Five: Revering God for Our Good (25:12)―Here Katie examines how Israel’s worship, dietary practices, and social ethics set them apart to reflect God’s holiness and compassion to the world. Throughout Deuteronomy 12–16, we see that God’s Law not only reveals His character and values but also points forward to Jesus Christ. Session Six: Reflecting God for Our Good, Part I (25:53)―In this first of two sessions on Deuteronomy 17–26, Katie highlights the pattern of covenant, relationship, obedience that runs throughout Scripture. She reminds us that even the most detailed laws reflect God’s character and are meant to shape His people into a community marked by love and holiness. Session Seven: Reflecting God for Our Good, Part II (29:15)―Part two of Katie’s teaching on Deuteronomy 17–26 reveals how God’s Law challenged the Israelites to confront injustice, elevate human dignity, and influence culture through love and holiness. We are called to follow that same pattern―living publicly and boldly as salt and light, bringing God’s righteousness into every sphere of life. Session Eight: Returning to God for Our Good (30:04)―The final video in our study brings the journey through Deuteronomy to a powerful close with a look at chapters 27–34. Katie reminds us that God’s Law is not just about rules―it’s a reflection of His heart, His covenant, and His relentless grace. Katie calls us to respond to all we’ve learned by choosing life, walking in obedience, and living as women transformed by the love and holiness of our forever good God.
