From James Finke, author of the best-selling Christianity Uncomplicated series, comes his gripping debut novel, Dear Judas, where love and faith are tested in the unseen battles of spiritual warfare.
From the moment Tommy Finch’s heart stopped beating, his life would never be the same. A successful medical device salesman thriving in a high-pressure corporate world, Tommy had no need for God—until a near-death experience shatters his disbelief and forces him to confront a new reality.
As he grapples with the complexities of life, love, and faith, he unwittingly becomes the target of dark forces determined to lead him to “their father’s house below.” But there’s one complication: Tommy is married to Elizabeth, a devout Christian whose unwavering faith becomes a nightmare for the demons scheming to undermine him. Guided by her steadfast love and confronted by skepticism from those around him, Tommy embarks on a journey of discovery that reveals the unseen manipulations at play in his life.
“Dear Judas” reimagines the themes of C.S. Lewis’s “The Screwtape Letters,” exploring the tension between good and evil, along with thought-provoking apologetic elements, in a contemporary setting. With humor, heart, and a touch of the supernatural, this gripping tale invites readers to reflect on the nature of faith, love, and the unseen struggles that shape our lives.

Great book to remind you who may be speaking into you
My husband and I both read this. It’s great. An easy and quick read to remind you that the things coming into your brain my not be your own thoughts. A bit of a simplistic story end, but still worth the quick read.

Must read for new and seasoned believers!
Wow! This book is amazing and I will be sharing this with everyone I know! It is an excellent resource for new believers to understand the realities (and value) of turning to Christ and a reminder for those of us further in our faith what we truly fight against and who we fight for. Highly recommend!

Good story. Bad editing.
Interesting story, but poorly edited. A major character seems to have two different names. Typos galore.

Really good read!
I first thought this was giving very Christian corny. 😂 But I stuck with it; it really is a good read. I learned so much and I’ve already gifted a copy to someone in my life who I think this could encourage. Love!

Entertaining powerful and approachable
James is a great writer and developed the characters well. Amazing to see him transition from the apologetics work to this vivid and engaging story. Love it.

Fast pace and fun story but lacks a deep philosophical discussion for people’s unbelief.
The book was well written and was a fast paced read. How the demons were written was very clever. I wish the book had a deeper focus on the philosophical issues surrounding unbelief of the main character (as well as others).

Amazing read
I absolutely LOVED this book. I believe in the spiritual battle going on all around us, but the author used a couple to show how evil/demons try to sway us away from the Light of Jesus Christ through doubt, shame, fear, anxiety in our relationships and daily circumstances. I could relate to the scenarios placed on their relationship through stressful times and our human response. The demon uses scripture to portray that his enemy is real and a threat to the devil and his ways. The husband is not a believer, but his wife and parents are. It shows the strain for one to strongly believe and the other to constantly be fighting against the concept of Christianity or the Bible. He is easy prey for the demons to work to keeping for their own. Loved it, really made me think about what th devil uses in our daily lives to try to tempt us away from the truth that is right in front of us.

Great book but horrible typeset!
Great read… Would be 5 stars if the typeset was better. It’s small and faint so somewhat of a chore to read. Wish I would’ve gone with the Kindle version.

Book was missing chapters and had the word copy written in some chapters and not others, most likely a pre-published copy. Can’t say what else is missing

I highly recommend this book for Christians looking for fiction with depth. The twists and turns kept me turning the pages. I love the relationship between the two main characters, what a powerful view into the spiritual aspect of marriage. I will never view my frustrations with my husband in the same light. I loved the focus on the power of a praying wife. Truly encouraging. A great read.
