Big Chungus of a Bible
I just ordered this book so this review is based solely on first impressions. I’m displaying some images of the NASB Compact bible by Holman for size reference, and the NLT Wide Margin DaySpring bible to demonstrate the page color discrepancy.Exterior:It’s a very large size hard cover bible, very rigid and I perceive this will lend itself to difficulty while trying to carry it around. I don’t recommend this to be a travel companion bible. It’s not particularly thick, I would say your average study bible is thicker than this. Once opened it lays flat nicely, even towards the beginning and end pages. I believe it will be very easy to write in for this reason.One of the things I noticed which I don’t like is the suede cover is very grippy. Any kind of dust particles and crumbs will attach to it too readily and they weren’t easy to wipe off, it took several passes to get it clean. This will make things like keeping it clean or trying to stick it into a carrying bag difficult because of its’ texture as well as size. Not a deal breaker entirely, but something to keep in mind.The cover otherwise is very lovely, I love the dimensionality of the quilted diamonds and shade of sage green. The page edges have a gold gilding which is really nice. Affixed are two ribbons; one yellow, one green.Interior:The pages have a light buttercream yellow tint, they aren’t stark white as I show side-by-side comparisons to the NLT DaySpring bible which has bleached white pages. The page thickness is not listed on the publishing page, however I would say it’s slightly thicker than your average bible paper with a smooth and satisfying texture. Your pens will smooth glide over these pages and I do believe the paper will hold up nicely. (I recommend everyone use card stock underneath the page you’re writing on to protect the underlying pages from the pressure transfer of your pen/pencil.) There is a bit of ghosting coming through so the pages are still pretty thin overall.I tried to display different lighting so you can see what natural vs. warm light looks like. It’s strictly black-letter text which means no red letters for the dialog of Jesus. The 9.5 font is a good size, makes it very easy to read. Still surprisingly, you can fit a ton of text onto one page.I appreciate the CSB translation because it reads very similar to the NASB20 translation. Both of which are the only mainstream translations that I know of which use the name “Lord of Armies” for God. Most other translations use the more archaic term “Lord of Hosts”, which is still accurate to the Hebrew term, it implies the same thing but “hosts” doesn’t translate into English the same way as “armies” does. Armies is the most accurate rendering. That’s why I was on the lookout for a large-print, wide margin, CSB or NASB20 translation and I am very much looking forward to using this bible to transfer all my scripture notes into.

Worth it
This Bible is gorgeous. Fabric is a soft sued material, and the quilted cover offers a small bit of give to help cushion the hard cover. The edges are gold, and the Bible itself is fairly large! The print is of good size, as well as the margins. The pages are also very thick compared to most Bibles. I’m thoroughly impressed.
