Perfect for my needs
Update after almost one year: I still maintain the 5-star review of this devotional journal for grief. It has been almost a year and I have utilized this book for its intended purpose. This book relates more to human loss, so the parts that did not apply to my specific type of grief, I would just read and move on to the next pages. Love is still love and loss is still loss, whether it was a pet, or a human loss. Sometimes an animal is all a person has, and when they lose that, it can be just as heartbreaking as losing someone special. I really love how it was written and recommend to anyone experiencing the heartbreak of loss.I am only on day two of this book and it has exceeded my expectations. I am extremely introverted when it comes to my emotions because I feel like people do not understand certain degrees of grief, and that is ok, it is not their burden to bear. I enjoy releasing my extreme feelings of emotions through writing in a journal, talking alone to myself and God, and just embracing those emotions so I can try to move forward. It has been 4 long months since the passing of my beloved companion. I am a single mother and my 12-year-old rottweiler very suddenly within a months’ time had to be put down (by me) due to losing his strength in his legs and basically losing all mobility. While I knew his loss would severely impact me and I tried to prepare, that did not work. I am still haunted by the look in his eyes, and just the loss of his companionship. He was my soul animal I 100% believe and gave me a comfort NO human has ever been able to. He was my peace in the chaos of life. Losing him has been absolutely shattering. I have suffered emotionally and even physically. I work out alot, eat right, and live an overall healthy lifestyle, I have wondered “why”, I have been angry, I have been through all the stages. So far, this book allows me to express MY feelings and get them out in a way that works for me. I also like the verbiage relating to God and the scriptures provided. So far, I am very pleased with this book as I was looking for something unique to my needs. No, Maximus wasn’t a human, but he was very special and dear to my heart. A loss I will never get over. This book has helped, and I know it will continue to help as I navigate my way through this new normal.

A book you never knew you needed
It’s a nice little book.I lost my dad a couple years ago, and its still been tough. I miss him every day. I have guilt, happy memories, sad memories, and everything in between.I actually dont use this book every week. Sometimes its every few weeks. Usually when im deep into my sorrow and grief. When something reminds me of him, or simply thinking about him is stronger that day and its hurting.Writing down some things in this book has helped. The connection to the bible and the verses it gives are great and help strengthen my faith and my hope that this isn’t the end and I will one day hug my dad again. Be able to say im sorry for things I want to apologize for and tell him how much I love him.So if your in the beginning of your grief, or simply stuck in the same place years later like me, this will definitely help. Or if you see someone who is stuck in grief so strong its debilitating, get this for them.Sometimes we forget that the Lord is there for us.

A Roadmap for Grieving That Doesn’t Leave You Out of Gas
I’ve covered a lot of miles in the Land of the Grieving. Friends, parents, beloved family, teachers and other significant personal losses each gave me a window into this thing we call “grief.” Debbra in a straightforward, but very un-boring way reaches those pockets we protect because they are painful, or maybe we haven’t quite moved ahead the way we would like. Through God’s Word, a writing style that draws in the reader, as though you were conversing over a cup of coffee, and time tested strategies, Debbra recognizes the different ways we grieve and the way God can meet us at whatever place we find ourselves. It is rare to find a book that combines journaling ideas with confirmation of pain that doesn’t either border on the maudlin or worse, make you feel like a moron for still feeling pain over a loss and assures you that a couple of fuzzy navels will solve the problem. Thank God SOMEONE has taken experiences from others and her own heartfelt grief to be vulnerable and yet show the wisdom of one who has seen God work in the lives of those who are indeed brokenhearted, including herself. We are made in the image of God, and working through week by week, Debbra helps you like a trusted friend on a journey that hopefully leads to understanding and peace.

A general grief journal
Love this. I feel I would have benefited more from this in the beginning of my grief journey. I highly suggest this prompted journal for someone who has recently lost a friend or loved one. I personally lost my sister and I feel it was to general.

It helps
It helped. I started it about a year after my wife’s death. Led me to things that I needed to walk-through , though I didn’t know. For the most part, I did one every week or two and then trailed off as time passed by. It’s been two years now and I’m about 3/4 of the way through.

A beautifully written book, with thoughtful prompts to process grief, whether sudden or unexpected. Bought for a friend, I’ll be purchasing more to keep on hand.
