As I’m nearing the end of the book, as strange as it may sound, I’m already looking forward to reading it all over again from the beginning for another six weeks. Here’s why…The author is, to me, a trusted authority because he unwaveringly and with a heart of love addresses hard and relevant topics, particularly for young adults, in his teachings which are all rooted in the authority of the Bible. I was expecting this book to be a part II to JP’s first book “Welcome to Adulting,” but it is not a continuation. Rather, it is a devotional in which he challenges the reader to commit to a 42-day challenge of reading God’s Word, applying it, and praying to help develop a habit of spending time regularly reading the Bible beyond finishing the book.One unique thing that I liked that no other devotional that I’ve read that the “WTA Survival Guide” does is that it has a action step the reader can take to implement the truth they learned that day and a short prayer written out. Having these action steps everyday has helped me to better remember what I learned and have practical ways to live out obedience to God’s Word.I would and have been recommending this book to anyone and everyone. It is a valuable tool for anyone either needing help establishing a habit of spending time with Jesus and/or helping navigate real life challenges adults face whether single, dating, or married. The topic are relevant, and I looked forward to reading the next chapter every single day. It is full of many of JP’s stories, and it feels like you’re sitting down and having a conversation with JP and then with Jesus.If you want to learn, know what the Bible says, spend time with Jesus, grow in your relationships with people and your God, be encouraged and challenged, laugh, cry, and have a tool to navigate the things you’re going through right now whether you’re new to your faith or have been following Jesus for a long time, then this book is for you! It also makes a great gift for friends, family, and graduates!

This book is truly an outlier among guides for young adults. It is packed full of thought provoking advice, true personal stories for illustration, and great practical tips on how to move forward. The daily readings are short, but every word deliberate. Even if you hate reading or feel too busy for it, you can make the time for this. If you want to build a daily habit of reading and reflecting on deeper truths, read this. If you’re walking around in high school, college, or the “real world” after those confused and hearing loud voices telling you all the different directions you should travel and opinions you should hold, read this. And if you want to get to the heart of what God wants for you in your young adult years and beyond (spoiler alert: it isn’t pain, confusion, or regret), read this. I have personally grown a lot from digging into this book pre-release and I recommend it to with zero reservations. The author, JP, is a man who has been through it all, gotten it wrong, and gotten it right. He wants to help you see the things he does looking back on his young adult years and for you to know that there is a God who loves you, Jesus died for you to be brought back to him, and that this God has a better way for your life than all the loud voices in the world. Make this book part of your daily life and I don’t think you’ll regret it one bit.

A Survival Guide with the right kind of counsel
I’m not usually a fan of devotionals/daily guides, but I loved this book by JP. In the same way he keeps everything focused on Christ, practical, and honest in Welcome to Adulting, JP does it again in a survival guide for young adults. I’m not a young adult, but I still found this guide engaging and helpful. He starts each day with Scripture, and through authentic, real stories helps the reader grow in their love for the Lord and understanding of true wisdom.The daily reading is short, but each day JP provides prompts for action and prayer. I benefitted greatly from the book and can’t wait for my sons to read it as well.

One of the most transparent and direct people, God is using JP to change Waco and young adult lives everywhere! As a stay at home mom this book is full of practical applications for God’s truth not just for the early 20 year old but adults of all ages! Super easy and quick to read. A Great Starter for Young Adults
The questions that I look at when I review a book: Is this deeply rooted in Scripture? How does the gospel flow out of it? Thankfully, for this book, it passed both tests with flying colors. JP’s devo is an extremely practical guide for anyone in college or their 20’s looking at how to live out their faith. Many devos out there are just a couple of verses to make you say, “Hmm… I’ll think about it,” but what I like about this survival guide is that it takes the gospel from the abstract into the practical with daily challenges.If there was anything negative about it, I would say that the organization might be a bit better, but the important things are there – the gospel is clear, and God is glorifed. I would recommend it to any young adult, especially ones in college or recent grads.
