A Guide for a New Season of Calling and Purpose
As someone who has “retired” from the work I’ve done most of my adult life, I can say that Daily Devotions for a Purposeful Retirement is much more than a book on retirement. It’s a reminder that we as Christians were never meant to retire, at least not as it’s understood in our culture.I drove a tractor-trailer, or semi, most of my adult life. When people ask me if I’m retired now, I joke that I’m ‘semi-retired.’ Believers don’t step away from their purpose; they step into a new season of calling. 101 Scripture-anchored reflections, activities, and guided journal prompts invite deeper prayer, gratitude, and clarity, redirecting the heart from “What now?” to “Lord, what’s next?”

    Helpful book
I’m planning on retiring in less than a year, so when I saw this book I thought it might be a good purchase. This is a new phase in my life and I’ve heard so many stories of people having a difficult time adjusting to retirement. I really enjoyed the passages, reflections, journal prompts and resources through the book. I think it’ll really help me with me upcoming retirement.

    Simple and Uplifitng
I like the simple format. But it goes beyond simple activities, offering thoughtful reflections and journal prompts that help you explore God’s Word on a deeper level. It brings a really good structure and meaning to each day, making the transition from work to retirement feel purposeful.

Get the most out of yourself in retirement
I retired in May of last year at 65. I should have bought this book earlier. I had no plan, no true guidance and nothing that I looked forward to. I just didn’t know how to do “retirement”. This book, with it’s reflections and prompts that cause you to think about the possibilities for you in your post-retirement years, has been helpful for me to identify a new purpose. You don’t have to be a church-going Christian to benefit from it either.

    Honor Yourself
The book reminds me that slowing down is not a loss but a gift. The Sabbath felt alive again, it is a sacred pause for my soul. Rest is not laziness; it is a need for healing. Every breath carries God’s love. The table stood out deeply, it is a place to honor Him and offer myself to others. It challenged me to ask what kind of “food” my life serves daily.

    Action Oriented
This devotional tackles retirement’s identity crisis head-on. The structure works—Scripture, reflection, journaling prompts, practical activities, and resources create actionable faith steps. Strong theological grounding (Ephesians 2:8-9 balanced with James 2:17) prevents works-righteousness while encouraging meaningful service. It is theologically sound guidance for a neglected demographic…mine!

Retired, Rewired, and Still on God’s Schedule
So you’ve clocked out for good, tossed the alarm clock, and thought retirement would be one long nap with snacks. Surprise! Turns out, endless free time can feel… weird. Like, “What do I do with my hands?” weird. This devotional gets it. It’s like a wise, gentle friend who shows up with 101 reflections, a Bible in one hand and a journal prompt in the other, saying, “Hey, God’s not done with you yet.” You’ll find bite-sized devotionals, simple daily activities, and questions that actually make you think (but not in a homework way).Whether you’re newly retired or just wondering if golf counts as a spiritual practice, this book helps you find purpose, peace, and maybe even a few holy surprises. It’s not about slowing down—it’s about shifting gears, with God riding shotgun.
